New Kite Alert: The Ozone Reflex

Ozone just dropped the new Reflex, and this one's been long anticipated.

It's a three-strut freeride kite. "Freeride" gets thrown around a lot, but really it just means a do-it-all kite, something that doesn't fight you no matter what you're trying to do that day.

For anyone juggling kiting, winging, and foiling gear on every trip, packing is always a puzzle. The Reflex is shaping up to be the one kite you can bring and cover it all: light wind foiling, big air when it's honking, solid in the waves. If you could only pack one kite, this is it.

Kites used to force a trade-off. Build one for big air, sacrifice the waves. Build for waves, lose something on the big air side. Ozone's basically closed that gap with this one, no real compromises.

A few things that make a freeride kite actually good:

  • Plug and play: easy to rig, intuitive on the bar
  • Stable in the sky
  • Big wind range
  • Light on the bar, but still enough feedback that you always know where the kite is (especially upside down mid-trick, when that matters most)

Put it all together and you get a kite you forget you're flying. That's the goal, and the Reflex hits it.
